Airbus in looking for Data Scientist with expertise in TensorFlow, Python, NymPy, SciPy, Pandas for Leicester location.

Description of the job:

This role can be based on our Leicester or Newcastle site.

Do you have image processing experience? Enjoy working with TensorFlow? Love working with NumPy, SciPy, Pandas? Looking to work on exciting analysis applications and scaling them up to global image data sets?

Then this is the role for you!

We are looking for a Data Scientists that comes from an image processing background – we are happy to consider any industry – food, automotive, medical, crime control / prevention, manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceutical are some examples, but nowhere near an exhaustive list.

Airbus Defence & Space Intelligence is a leading provider of optical and radar satellite imagery, geographic information products, software and services delivering geographic information solutions into both private and public sector organisations worldwide. We offer a comprehensive product and services portfolio covering the entire geographic information services value chain – data acquisition and processing, imagery analysis and interpretation, hosting and delivery of large datasets, as well as offering GIS development and consultancy. Due to organic growth, we are looking for a Data scientist to join our team in the Leicester office or the Newcastle office. As a Data scientist you will be joining us at exciting times – working on serious data that makes a difference.

This role will sit in the Energy, Infrastructure and Analytics team within Intelligence UK. The team is based in Leicester and delivers projects to support the Oil and Gas Industry using satellite imagery and a range of analytics to include: expert interpretation, automated feature extraction and spatial analysis. Furthermore, the team have developed innovative solutions to support exciting new business development opportunities in: road, rail and powerline infrastructure management, Agricultural monitoring, and financial services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of these innovative new solutions. The right candidate will also build strong links with the software engineering team in the Newcastle office achieve efficient operational deployment of derived solutions.

Tasks & accountabilities: 

  • Data preparation to include restructuring and filtering.
    · Machine learning model build to include training, testing and validation
    · Machine learning model deployment
    · Pattern analysis
    · Build predictive models
    · Using NumPy, Pandas, SciPy
    · Working with Terabytes and Petabytes of data
    · Developing scripts for repeatable and automation tasks

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Required skills:

  • Supervised and unsupervised machine learning
    · Regression analysis and prediction
    · Scripting and automation
    · Software development (Python, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas)
    · Deep Convolution Neural Networks with TensorFlow, to include high level abstractions such as Keras
    · Intelligent system deployment
    · Linux experience
    · Experience setting up and deploying GPUs for model training.
    · Experience of scalable could computing preferable
